How Smart Restock updates Shopify inventory from a PDF invoice
Upload the PDF (or forward the supplier's email — we handle attachments). The OCR engine reads every line item off the invoice, extracts product name, supplier SKU, quantity, and unit cost, then matches each row against your Shopify catalog. Ambiguous matches are flagged for your review.
One click on Approve and Smart Restock posts an inventory adjustment for every line item, at the Shopify location you specify, and updates weighted-average cost on each variant. The whole thing takes under a minute for a typical restock.

When a PDF invoice line doesn't match anything in your Shopify catalog — a new SKU your supplier just started carrying — Smart Restock can automatically create a Shopify product from the invoice line using AI. Product title, description, type, and variants are generated from the invoice context and any similar products in your store.

How accurate is the PDF parsing?
Well over 99% on the invoices we see day-to-day. Anything the parser isn't sure about is flagged for your review before inventory posts, so bad data can't slip through to Shopify.
Does it work with invoices in currencies other than USD or CAD?
Yes. Smart Restock reads any currency symbol and stores the invoice total in the original currency and your store's base currency.
What happens after I approve — is the inventory update instant?
