What invoice formats does Smart Restock's OCR read?
Smart Restock reads PDF invoices (both digital exports and scanned images), Excel and CSV spreadsheets, and forwarded emails (.eml) with attachments. There's no template to configure — drop the file your supplier already sends.
Does it work with scanned PDF invoices?
Yes. The OCR handles scanned PDFs and image-based invoices in addition to digital PDFs. Line items, SKUs, quantities, and unit costs are extracted from either type.
How does SKU matching work?
Every invoice line is matched to a Shopify variant using your existing SKU, barcode, or supplier SKU mapping. When Smart Restock isn't sure, the line is flagged for review — nothing posts until you approve the batch.
Can I post inventory to multiple Shopify locations?
Yes. Each invoice line can be routed to any Shopify location — warehouse, retail store, or 3PL — from the same review screen, and weighted-average cost is recalculated per location.
What happens to weighted-average cost when I import an invoice?
For every restocked variant, Smart Restock blends the incoming quantity and unit cost with the existing on-hand quantity and cost, then updates the variant's Shopify cost so your COGS reports stay accurate.
What if a line item doesn't match any Shopify product?
Unmatched lines are flagged. You can manually match them to an existing product, or tap Generate with AI to create a full Shopify product draft — title, description, product type, and variants — directly from the invoice line before posting.
